As I've mentioned previously, I will be listing my home for sale sometime within the next year.  What upgrades or remodels will I be able to make my money back on?

My suggestion is that don't spend money on upgrading or anything,'cause normally the buyer doesn't pay for the structure,to the satisfaction of the seller.
